Fountain Circle is one of the 12 Signature HealthCARE nursing homes participating in the I Won't Grow Up KY project. Each is becoming a Creative Community of Care, and working with regional and national artists to reimagine the story of Peter Pan. Here, Artist in Residence Bob Martin invites elders to create a story about flying.
Look--up in the sky! It’s not a bird, a plane, or even Superman. It’s… Milwaukee’s own superhero team, The Righteous League!
Andew heard about the SAIR program by accident. Though he had never worked with elders before, he thought he'd try a new experience. Upon being placed at Luther Manor, Andrew quickly learned it was much different from the nursing home he'd envisioned. Andrew's story is one of courage, creativity, and compassion.
In partnership with LeadingAge, we are very excited to announce the launch of our NextGen program, an expansion of TimeSlips programming into high schools, youth-serving programs, and colleges/universities.
I did my first TimeSlips today. I am still flying high. The residents loved it.
The online format was great, it is really nice to be able to work in the learning as you can versus giving a whole day or more to an away from work training. Staff at TimeSlips are enthusiastic and supportive.
Every time I walk out of a session, I walk out with a smile. I've learned so much about people with dementia throughout this process. I learned that creativity does not waiver throughout their illness.
